Graduated Filtering
Protex provides pre-configured filtering profiles giving the appropriate protection to users of different ages and developed by extensive consultation with teachers.
Sophisticated content checking
Protex checks the content of every web page and blocks it if limits for the active profile are exceeded.
Automatic Updates
The main Protex filtering lists are updated automatically every 24 hours. An Emergency block facility enables high-risk content to be blocked across the Protex community within 15 minutes of a change.

Systems are available to service small to large populations of users. From a single-appliance serving a single small school – to high-availability multi-cluster systems serving half a million users or more.

Integration with standard authentication systems allows flexible profile assignment and user-tracking. Filter profiles can be assigned to a user based on personal or location attributes via user-authentication system, IP address or port number.
